BlackBerry Passport has won the reader’s choice award in the Mobile Madness competition held by TechnoBuffalo. Voting closed on March 31st.
In their announcement post TechnoBuffalo wrote that buyers looking for flagship devices should definitely consider the Passport which has garnered strong reviews since its launch in 2014.
BlackBerry is known for building solid, durable devices and the Passport is no exception to this rule. The Passport’s 4.5 inch display may be a little smaller than the displays of other flagship devices on the market, but it has a resolution of 1440 x 1440 pixels.
Tom’s Guide is also featuring a similar contest where the Passport has entered the semifinals by beating the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. The Passport faces the Microsoft Lumia 640 XL in the semifinals. Voting began on April 1st.
In TechnoBuffalo’s competition, the Passport beat OnePlus One which runs a version of Android.

The Passport bested the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Motorola Droid Turbo and HTC One M9 to reach the final. Notable rivals like the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and the iPhone 6 didn’t advance beyond the initial stages.
The BlackBerry Classic also made it to the semifinals where it lost to the Android phone OnePlus One. In the earlier rounds it bested Google Nexus 6 which runs pure Android and Sony Xperia Z3.
The fact that both the Passport and the OnePlus One made it to the finals is a clear sign that consumers are looking for something different. It looks like they have become tired of seeing the same kind of iterative devices. Meanwhile at Tom’s Guide the Passport is fighting a similar battle. It has been pitted against Microsoft Lumia 640XL in the semifinals. In the other semifinal, HTC’s One M9 is fighting OnePlus One.

The Technobuffalo contest had 17 contenders and two BlackBerry devices made it to the top 4. This is a clear sign that BlackBerry is making a huge comeback, but that is not surprising. The Passport is a solid device with a killer battery for a smartphone. It can run every app you want it to run. And the BB 10 is a pretty slick operating system. BlackBerry probably only needs a little help from app developers to regain its monopoly over the smartphone market.
